Pucallpa
With a population of 208,312, Pucallpa represents the vast majority of urban population in this jungle region. Hundreds of small villages outside of the city limits line the coastlines of the river.
The Nazarene Church officially started work in Pucallpa within the last few years by Dr. Larry Garman. As with most remote jungle areas in Peru, many villages remain completely unreached by the message of Jesus Christ.
Darío Santa Cruz Izqierdo is the national missionary serving in Pucallpa. One of his primary ministries there is micro-economic development. The goal for the economic development is to empower the people who are merely surviving extreme poverty to develop skills and a source of income for their families. In addition to planting new churches in Pucallpa, Extreme has agreed to assist the economic development efforts through its 40/40 missionaries.
