Feature City - Pucallpa
Posted: 02/22/10

With a population of over 300,000, Pucallpa represents the vast majority of urban population in this jungle region. Hundreds of small villages outside of the city limits line the river’s coastlines.

The Church of the Nazarene officially started work in Pucallpa within the last few years, headed by Dr. Larry Garman. There are 5 organized Churches of the Nazarene in Pucallpa currently. As with most remote jungle areas in Perú, many villages remain completely unreached by the message of Jesus Christ.

We are working alongside the District Superintendent in this area, Darío Santa Cruz Izqierdo, to start a micro-economic development in Pucallpa to help locals, who merely survive extreme poverty, to develop skills, and a source of income for their families. Extreme has agreed to assist the economic development efforts through the cluster support family, the Fosters, and the 40/40 missionaries who will be serving in this city, to expand the benefits throughout the city and region.
