Iquitos Cohort - Update from April 13, 2010Posted: 04/13/10
During the January Extreme project here in Iquitos, we had a clinic day in Malvinas. One of our 40/40 pairs, Katie and Priscila, was sharing the message of Jesus Christ that day with the people who came to receive medical attention. One lady who they spoke with, Rosa, was overjoyed that we had come and so grateful for everything. She expressed that she would like to open her home to begin a church, and she lives in Masuza. Katie and Priscila, along with the help of other 40/40's, have started one of their churches here. They are evangelizing and discipling people, and they have begun to have meetings every week together. This past Friday was their second meeting. There were 12 adults and 5 children who came to watch the movie The Passion of the Christ together. There is such a hunger for God and the things of the Lord within the group, and at the end of the film there was a great spirit of unity and love. Everyone was crying, hugging, and saying God Bless you. The most amazing part of this story is that Rosa's house, where they meet every week, is directly above the bar which her husband owns. While he has not yet started attending the meetings, he agreed to close down the bar on Friday night so they could have their meeting without all of the noise. What a miracle! God has provided a place for the church to meet, hearts that at yearning, and a husband who is honoring his wife. Please continue to pray with us for this new church in Masuza, for salvation of the husband, and for someone to feel led to adopt this community.
