Church Plant Project

Manta

Jan 2016 - Jun 2018

Manta is coastal city of Ecuador and is actually the largest port city in the country. With a population of nearly 200,000 people, it is the fifth most populous city in Ecuador. The city is not only well-known for it's ports but is also recognized for it's International Film Festival that it hosts every January.

On April 16, 2016, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit the coast of Ecuador also shook the city of Manta. With a casualty count of about 200 people in Manta, and many others injured and left without homes, Extreme sent a team of missionaries before the church plant project to minister to the people. The church plant team has a unique ministry set before them now, as many of the people they will meet over their mission will have experienced some sort of loss in the earthquake. The people the missionaries have met over Extreme's prior visits are hungry and have vocalized their eagerness for the church to be planted in Manta. We are very excited to see how God moves in this city over the next few years!
