I am Mishell Soriano and I am 25 years old at the start of my time with Extreme. I was born September 20, 1990, and God gave me the blessing of having a twin sister of whom I am very proud. We are the oldest in my family and I have to younger brothers, Gipson and Gabriel, so that there are six of us in my family.
I am from Ecuador and I live in the city of Guayaquil. When I was six years old, I came to know God through Sunday School and thanks to a brother from the church who was realizing the Great Commission. Through us girls, at that time my father and mother also gave their lives to Christ. That doesn't mean I have had a perfect family, but the word of God made a change in my family and made us new creations. Without it I don't know what my life would have been like, but I would have been lost.
Now I would like to tell you about my call to missions. Sincerely, this was not in my plans, but seeing and listening to my words, Isaiah 55:8 comes to my mind, in which God says "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.”It was not in my plans to serve God as a missionary, but instead to serve him in other ministries like I have for four years ever since I came to know God in a real way. I knew about Extreme at the beginning of 2015 and, as it has happened with other missionaries, God began to stir my heart and mind and asked myself, "What would it be like to serve God as a missionary?" That was the first time I felt that feeling, but I tried to ignore it, because I was going through hard times in my life. But God mentioned missions to me again and it was then with tears running down my cheeks that I said, "Yes Christ Jesus, I am not perfect, and maybe I am the most imperfect person in the world, but if it pleases you for me to serve you in this way, I will do it!" That is what I said, and at times the fear to do something holds us back, which is what happened to me. I was scared, but God and his numerous promises say that he is always with me wherever I go. So I am willing to work for two years as a 40/40 missionary with Extreme, and now I say, "Here I go, God."
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38).
